Description of Business
Founded in 1964, Hokkaido-based Hokkai Transportation Co., Ltd. has been engaged in a variety of logistics business areas, covering sea, land and air as a comprehensive logistics company. As an exclusive shipping agency of Kawasaki Kisen and Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen for their operations at ports in Hokkaido, we have to date widely conducted harbor transportation business. Responding to a significant modal shift that occurred in Japan in the 1970s, from land transportation combined with coastal shipping to land-sea through transit using large trailers, we advanced into the domain of trailer transportation business. Through these efforts, we now play an important role in the commercial artery connecting Hokkaido and Honshu. Also, in response to the trend of globalization, we are focusing on international intermodal transport business by cooperating with leading players in the relevant fields.
Land-Sea Through Transit
In Hokkaido, we set up bases in Sapporo (headquarters), Tomakomai (branch office), and Kushiro (branch). Outside Hokkaido, we have offices in Tokyo (branch office), Tokyo Ferry Pier (office), Hitachi (sales office/Ibaraki prefecture), Oita (sales office) and Fuji (sales office/Shizuoka prefecture). In addition, we have affiliated transportation companies nationwide―Kyoritsu Transportation Co., Ltd. based in Tomakomai and Otaru, Kushiro Rikuun Co., Ltd. in Kushiro, Koyo Transportation Co., Ltd. in Tokyo and Hitachi, which covers the Kanto and Tokai areas, and Maizuru Express Transportation Co., Ltd. in Maizuru and Tsuruga, covering the Kansai area, thereby established a solid network that supports our land-sea through transit. Through responding to various transportation needs, including paper, agricultural products, unpasteurized milk, foods, and sundries to construction materials, we are taking on a constant challenge to attain further growth.
